We are delighted to launch the 2018 Melbourne International Jazz Festival
We have spent the last year scouring the globe to curate an unmissable line up for this year’s Festival.
The 2018 program features a stunning range of international artists, including funk legend Maceo Parker (USA) in a spectacular tribute to Ray Charles, jazz-blues chanteuse Madeleine Peyroux (USA), the (inter)steller Sun Ra Arkestra (USA) and the irrepressibly energetic Yemen Blues (Israel/USA), alongside modern masters such as Branford Marsalis (USA), Gretchen Parlato (USA), Christian McBride (USA) and Terri Lyne Carrington (USA) and showcases new jazz influencers such as Nubya Garcia (UK), Francesco Cafiso (Italy), Chris Dave and The Drumhedz (USA) and LA-based electro-pop outfit KNOWER (USA).
The Festival is also a celebration of the many outstanding Australian artists featured in the program, including The Others – a new collaboration between Paul Grabowsky, James Morrison and Kram, Harry James Angus’ new project - Struggle With Glory; and the world premiere of Barney McAll’s “Sweet Sweet Spirit” – a unique interpretation of the great gospel superstar Doris Akers.
Other Festival highlights include our Jazz Out West program of free events across Melbourne’s inner west, curated by DJ Mz Rizk; Jazz Massive - Melbourne’s biggest ever participatory big jazz band open to the public; and family events and sizzling-hot late night jams at The Jazzlab in Brunswick.
Thank you so much for continuing to support the Melbourne International Jazz Festival in bringing the best jazz artists the world has to offer to your very own doorstep. We are always inspired by you – our loyal MIJF fans.
Without further ado, enjoy exploring the program and see you at the Festival!
