BILL FRISELL (USA)
A giant of contemporary jazz, Bill Frisell is one of the world's most brilliant jazz guitarists and composers. His innovative disregard for convention has lead him to develop a distinctive sound which freely mixes the mastery of jazz, the warmth of folk and country, the abstraction of the avant garde and the raw emotion of blues and rock. A Grammy Award winner and recipient of countless international accolades, Bill Frisell masterfully weaves rumbling funk bass lines with country melodies. The 2009 Melbourne International Jazz Festival marks Frisell's debut appearance in Australia.
