DOUBLE BILL: JOHN ABERCROMBIE QUARTET (USA) + NOAH PREMINGER TRIO (USA)

"Abercrombie is better than ever."
The Guardian

"...a highly-skilled artist, who understands the value of space in his playing more than any other living jazz guitarist today."
Jazzchicago

Over a career spanning more than 40 years and nearly 50 albums, John Abercrombie has established himself as one the masters of jazz guitar. A ongoing experimenter, he works firmly in the jazz tradition but has innovated the guitar by pushing the boundaries of meter and harmony. With the Brecker Brothers, Abercrombie was a founding member of Dreams, one of the most prominent groups of the late 1960s and early 1970s. He has collaborated with artists including Billy Cobham, George Mraz, Jack DeJohnette and Richie Beirach.

Abercrombie makes his Australian debut with an extraordinary quartet featuring three leading names in contemporary music; violinist Mark Feldman, drummer Joey Barron and bassist Drew Gress. The group combines free playing and gentle melody, with a delicacy of sound and almost telepathic communication between the musicians.

24-year old saxophonist Noah Preminger has been acclaimed as an exciting young voice emerging in the jazz world, topping many critics' best-of polls for his debut album Dry Bridge Road. The Brooklyn based saxophonist has worked with major artists including Cecil McBee, Billy Hart, Ben Monder, Dave Leibman and Roscoe Mitchell and is joined by celebrated drummer Matt Wilson and bassist John Hebert.
