The Festival has put together a huge day of free and ticketed events on Saturday 1 May, for music-lovers, families and first dates to enjoy!
Treat yourself to a full day of activities, beginning at the launch of what’s set to be a hit of the 2010 Festival, Metlink's Jazz Fest Piano Staircase at Southern Cross Station; walk just a few blocks to get caught up in the family fun of Play School’s Big Jazz Adventure or Artplay Jazz For Kids sessions; perhaps treat yourself to the world premiere of John Hollenbeck’s commissioned work for the Federation Bells at Birrarung Marr; step into Hybrids and Folklore, the extraordinary colourful sound installation on show for free in the NGV Sculpture Garden; after all that, the next must-see stop is at Federation Square where the Festival invites the creatively curious of Victoria to warm up their warbles, tap on a tin can or toot on a trumpet in a huge celebration of the universal language of jazz, The Big Jam featuring James Morrison. Finally, the day culminates in a Festival Opening: Free Concert in the Square, featuring some of the stars of the 2010 Festival.
Phew! Step out and join the celebrations!
