Ebo Taylor & The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra

Wyndham Cultural Centre

Living legend of Afrobeat performs in Australia for the very first time.

In a must-see performance for fans of West African Highlife and Afrobeat, living legend and grandfather of the genre Ebo Taylor will bring his inimitable, infectiously upbeat sound to this year’s festival alongside his son Henry Taylor and Australia’s chief Afrobeat purveyors, the 17-piece Public Opinion Afro Orchestra.

A prolific guitarist, vocalist and composer whose career began in 1950s Ghana, 87-year-old Taylor will share with audiences a taste of the energetic, jazz and funk-tinged magic that has fuelled his prolific, 60-plus-year career and seen him play to fans across the globe. In that time, he’s collaborated with Fela Kuti, influenced countless artists, and helped shape the Afrobeat sound as we know it today.
