Jam Session: Sylent Nqo and Friends

Jam out with Zimbabwean multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Sylent Nqo and local Afro-jazz musicians in this free and casual community minded jam session.

Sylent Nqo is a Zimbabwean/Mozambican guitarist, composer, singer, songwriter, and bandleader who articulates music through his eclectic fusion of musical styles, genres and instruments from a multitude of ethnic sources.

He has collaborated, shared the stage and worked with some of the world’s most prominent performing artists such as the Late Dr Oliver Mtukudzi, the Late Hugh Masekela, UB40 ft Ali Campbell, PJ Powers, Da Capo, Fireboy DML, Oxlade, Peruzzi Vibes, Shattawale, Mr Eazi, Jah Cure, Davido, Jah Prayzah. In May 2023, He opened for UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell on their first tour of Zimbabwe since the 70s.

He was crowned “Senior Solo Instrumental Grand Champion of the World”, at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood USA in 2016 making him the first Zimbabwean to win such an award. In 2019 he was awarded “Best Alternative Artist” at The Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA).

This jam session will run from 2:00PM – 4:00PM, settle in and join the whole jam, or pop in and out as you please.
