Meet the Panelists
Paul Davies – Musicians Australia
Paul is a musician, union expert and Director of Musicians at the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance. He established Musicians Australia in late 2018 as the vehicle for musicians to advocate and organise. Currently, Musicians Australia are campaigning for minimum performance fees and ethical treatment of artists. In 2021 they demanded Governments introduce a minimum fee for publicly funded gigs and so far 3 Governments have agreed, now endorsing the MA minimum.
Maria Amato – AIR
Maria Amato is the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Independent Record Labels Association and has worked in the Arts and not-for-profit sector for over 25 years, specialising in finance and business management through her own consultancy firm, Results Management. Maria is currently a board member for the Worldwide Independent Network as treasurer and member of its Executive committee. She is also a board member for the Anchor – Reeperbahn Festival International Music Award. Maria has held former positions as Chair of the Creative Industry Advisory Board and member of the board of directors for the Australian Institute of Music, CEO/CFO of the Melbourne International Film Festival and board member for Music Victoria.
Cameron Lam – APRA/AMCOS
Cameron Lam is the Art Music Lead at the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA AMCOS), an Australian Music Centre represented composer, and Artistic Director of hybrid art production company, Kammerklang. In 2020, The Music Network judged him one of 30 under 30 “future leaders of the Australian music industry”. In his work for APRA AMCOS, he is passionate about championing sustainable careers, development opportunities, and supporting the diverse and important art music community across Australia. He is the administrator for the Art Music Fund and Art Music Awards, and the convenor of High Score: Composition and Sound Art for Games (as part of Melbourne International Games Week). Outside of APRA, Cameron curates the Australian Art Music playlist on Spotify and Limelight, and is completing his Masters at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
Lynne Small – CEO PPCA
Lynne Small has been with both the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia Ltd (PPCA) and the Australian Recording Industry Association of Australia (ARIA) since 1996. PPCA is a not for profit collecting society established to issue licences for the public performance and communication of copyright protected sound recordings and music videos. Net licence fees (after deduction of relevant administration expenses) are distributed to copyright owners, registered Australian recording artists, and a Trust Fund that provides grants for the encouragement of music and the performing arts. Prior to joining PPCA Lynne spent almost 7 years at Festival Records. She is a CPA and holds an MBA from the AGSM. Lynne is a Director of Support Act and was appointed Deputy Chair in 2020. She is also the COO for both the Australian Recording Industry Association Ltd (ARIA) and Phonographic Performance Company of Australia Ltd (PPCA); and is a Director and Vice Chair of the Australian Copyright Council.
