When is the Melbourne International Jazz Festival?

The 2022 Melbourne International Jazz Festival will take place from 14—23 October 2022.

Are there any free events?

Yes, approximately 40% of our program in 2022 will be free to the public, or low-cost. Many of these events are un-ticketed, so you don’t need to get a ticket—just turn up and enjoy.

Can I purchase a Gift Voucher?

Yes, gift vouchers are available through our website here.

Gift vouchers can be used for tickets to events sold through the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and can only be used for purchases through the MIJF website or over the phone by calling (03) 9001 1388. Vouchers are not valid for purchases directly through venues.

Vouchers are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase. Full terms and conditions are available here.

What happens if an event is cancelled due to COVID impacts?

In the event that COVID-related impacts require us to cancel, reschedule or restrict capacities at one or more shows, ticketholders will be contacted directly with instructions and options for their purchase.

Ok, but what happens if I can’t make it to a show due to COVID-19?

We know that the pandemic continues to be a challenging time to navigate, so we continue to offer some added flexibility within our ticketing policy so that you can book with confidence.

You will be entitled to a refund or exchange if you or a member of your booking party falls into any of these categories:

  • You or they are required to self-isolate or quarantine (and the event falls within the isolation/quarantine period).
  • You or they have COVID-19 symptoms, have tested positive for COVID-19 (including rapid antigen test), and/or are awaiting PCR test results (and the event falls within the period of awaiting test results).

Please contact us via email on [email protected] or call (03) 9001 1388 prior to 10am on the day of your performance. We are unable to guarantee a refund or exchange after the event.

If you purchased your ticket through the venue or an authorised seller, you’ll need to contact them directly.

Will there be conditions of entry to attend the 2022 Melbourne International Jazz Festival?

The safety of our artists, audiences and staff continues to be our number one priority. We’re following Victorian Government health guidelines and working with our venues to make sure that all events planned as part of the 2022 Festival are COVID-Safe.

Some key points:

  • In line with Victorian Government health guidelines, audiences will no longer need to check-in or provide evidence of their vaccination status.
  • By entering a MIJF event, you agree to abide by responsible health and safety measures including, but not limited to physical distancing where possible, mask wearing and sanitisation.
  • In line with Victorian Government health guidelines, wearing a face mask indoors is strongly recommended.

What happens if I’m running late?

The Festival and Venues reserve the right to exclude late-comers or admit them only if there is a suitable moment in the performance.

Make sure you check the time and venue on your ticket carefully.

We regret that we are unable to provide refunds if you miss the event.

I’m interested in getting involved.

There are lots of ways to get involved in the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

Volunteering: Our festival would not be possible without the dedicated group of volunteers who give their time and skills during and in the lead up to the festival. Volunteer applications will open through this website in August 2022. More information about the MIJF volunteer program can be found here.

Employment: MIJF has a small year-round team. Each year we have a limited number of contract positions that are advertised in the lead up to the festival. Opportunities are advertised on the Employment section of our website here and also through our e-news and social media.

Performing: MIJF is a fully curated event, as such invitations to perform are extended by the Festival’s Artistic Director and there is no open registration process. If you are interested in participating as a performer we do take expressions of interest for specific projects.
