These Digital Times: The Holly Moore Sextet

Personnel:
Alto Saxophone – Holly Moore
Tenor Saxophone – Paul Cornelius
Trumpet – Niran Dasika
Piano – Kade Brown
Double Bass – Robbie Finch
Drums – Luke Andresen

Saxophonist Holly Moore is an exciting young musician who is emerging as a leader in the Australian jazz scene. She is also the leader of Take Note, the gender equity & artist development initiative established by the Melbourne International Jazz Festival in 2019 celebrating female and gender diverse leaders in jazz. Moore will debut a new suite of music commissioned as part of the Take Note program.

This brand new composition features a three-piece horn section – Moore leading on alto saxophone with Paul Cornelius on tenor saxophone and Niran Dasika on trumpet – alongside Kade Brown on piano, Robbie Finch on the double bass and Luke Andersen on drums. Drawing on European Jazz and post-bop influences, the result is a lush, grand, dynamic sound that is at once pensive and upbeat. It is a complex response to a challenging year in global events from a young composer with real promise.
