“Original and provocative, feels like the sense of discovery” – Brian Eno
Pianist, composer and sonic storyteller Belle Chen makes her Melbourne International Jazz Festival debut with an immersive performance that brings together classical, jazz and electronic influences in striking and unexpected ways.
Described by legendary producer Brian Eno as “original and provocative,” Chen’s artistic voice has been shaped by a childhood spent between Taiwan and Australia and draws inspiration from the melodic genius of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Joe Hisaishi. Combining piano, synthesisers and spontaneous improvisation, she creates music imbued with cinematic beauty, wonder and a spirit of discovery.
For this special performance, Chen presents music from her acclaimed album Ravel In The Forest, which charted in both the UK and Australia, and has captivated audiences at venues and festivals across Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall and the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Don’t miss this highly evocative and imaginative show.
