Talented saxophonist, composer, band leader, and 2023 MIJF Take Note program leader Cheryl Durongpisitkul debuts a powerfully evocative suite for 12-piece improvising ensemble that channels experiences of loss and healing.
A dynamic, boundary-pushing musician, Durongpisitkul’s composition will draw on elements of contemporary jazz and rock/pop aesthetics, juxtaposing avant-garde and contemporary jazz improvisation against densely composed textures.
This work is commissioned by MIJF as part of our annual Take Note program.
