Singapore’s “King of Swing,” Jeremy Monteiro, returns to the Melbourne International Jazz Festival leading an all-star 16-piece big band.
Celebrated Singaporean pianist and the Lion City’s “King of Swing,” Jeremy Monteiro returns to the Melbourne International Jazz Festival in 2025 – this time leading the full power of The Jazz Association (Singapore) Orchestra (JASSO), a dynamic 16-piece ensemble featuring some of Singapore’s finest jazz talents. Known for their bold, high-energy performances, JASSO delivers a thrilling fusion of classic big band swing with vibrant Southeast Asian influences.
Monteiro, a regional jazz legend who has shared the stage with iconic artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, Bobby McFerrin, and Charlie Haden, has led JASSO at prestigious events including the EFG London Jazz Festival and the Jazz Education Network Conference in the U.S. The ensemble has also performed alongside jazz greats like Benny Golson, Randy Brecker, Carmen Bradford, and Roberta Gambarini.
After dazzling Melbourne audiences in 2024, Monteiro is back with JASSO for their festival debut with a performance that promises swinging rhythms and a powerful brass section — a must-see for big band music fans.
