Opening Act: Evening News plays Aphex Twin

Melbourne music scene stalwart and creative force of nature, Tamil Rogeon, brings his 16-piece orchestra to The Night Cat for a kaleidoscopic night of jazz, dance and orchestral sounds.

The violinist, composer, producer and genre-chameleon best known for blending cosmic jazz, hip hop, Brazilian choro, orchestral soul and deep house, takes audiences into his ever-expanding, multi-dimensional universe in this immersive one-off show.

For over two decades, Rogeon has built a colourful body of work – from hip-hop and funk LPs to modal jazz suites, symphonic poems and even an orchestral score for an AFL match. His acclaimed Brazilian song cycle 24 Hours in Lapa sits within a vast catalogue of work which includes projects: The Raah Project, Son of Nyx, Wave Theory and Steady Weather.

Rogeon’s past work has also included composing for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Oregon Symphony Orchestra (OSO) and more. As a prolific and highly sought-after arranger, he has worked with some of the biggest names across various corners of the musical map, including The Dandy Warhols, Hanson, Darlene Love, Missy Higgins and Harvey Sutherland.

Don’t miss this epic evening featuring lush new arrangements of past work, fresh material from his project Steady Weather, celestial vocals, radiant synths and soaring electric violin — with surprise guest appearances from Melbourne’s finest players.
