IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR MIJF 2021: WE’LL BE BACK
Following advice from the Victorian Government on Sunday, it is now clear that our Festival won’t be able to proceed as planned in October.
But all is not lost!
In anticipation of the recent Government announcement, we have been busy working behind the scenes to ensure our 2021 Festival can still go ahead this year. We’ll be back with a full program of live, in-person events.
The safety of Festival staff, artists and audiences is and has always been our first priority and the decision to postpone has been made with the aim of allowing as many people as possible to safely participate in and experience MIJF performances and events. The live experience is so important to this artform and we want to give our audience the chance to see the artists they love – live and on stage.
We’ll be making a full program announcement in the coming weeks – so stay tuned!
If you’ve already bought tickets for our original dates in October, we ask that you please hold onto them for the time being as we put the finishing touches on our plans for later in the year. We’ll be in contact in the coming fortnight to discuss your options, including exchanges and refunds. If for any reason you can’t wait and require an immediate refund, please contact our ticketing team on firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you purchased your tickets through a third party, they will be in contact.
Big Sunday Rescheduled to 2022
With the current restrictions on international travel unlikely to change this year, we will unfortunately have to reschedule our Big Sunday event. We’re obviously disappointed and know that the thousands of people who purchased a ticket to see Fat Freddy’s Drop and a huge line-up of Australian jazz greats live on stage will be feeling the same way.
Big Sunday will now take place as part of the 2022 Melbourne International Jazz Festival with the same line-up on October 15, which is a Saturday. But it’s still big – you just get a sleep in the next day.
If you hold a Big Sunday ticket, it will be automatically shifted to this date, so there’s no need to act – you’re already in and we can’t wait to see you there. If you would like a refund instead, the Ticketek team will be in contact with you soon with instructions.
A Big Thank You
The Board and team at MIJF would like to thank our partners, donors, Jazz Club members, collaborators, artists, volunteers and friends for their continued support and understanding as we make this announcement and plan for a rescheduled Festival.
We also thank our wonderful audience members and fans whose continued enthusiasm and love for live music makes it all worthwhile.
Watch this space. We have exciting things to share and can’t wait to welcome you all back soon.
